Charity Concert 16th May 2015

Charity Concert 2015

An Evening of Music and Song featuring Beverley Community Choir and the East Riding Suzuki Violin Group in aid of Marie Curie (Beverley) and the Cherry Tree Community Association

Reviewer – Alison H (Choir Member)

A fantastic evening of music and song took place on Saturday 16 May at Beverley Community Choir’s annual charity concert. The fabulous East Riding Suzuki Violin Group were on top form, impressing the audience with their skill and musicianship, under the direction of the wonderful Barbara Parham. The youngest player was just three, the oldest eighteen and they performed a varied programme of delightful music, at one point involving an anvil.

Beverley Community Choir rounded off the first half with three contrasting numbers, taking the audience to Finland, the States and ending with a moving vocal rendition of the well-known Pachebel’s canon. The second half included more songs from across the world, covering the gospel and folk traditions of Britain, South Africa and Eastern Europe. Along with prior donations and raffle ticket sales on the night, the enjoyable event raised a marvellous total of over £1,200 for the Cherry Tree Community Association and the Marie Curie Beverley Group.

You can catch the choir is again on 9 June in Wetwang and at the Beverley Folk Festival on 20 June, before they break for the summer.

A concert mix will be available soon
